After getting kicked out of his rock band, struggling guitarist Dewey Finn poses as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school to earn a paycheck. Discovering his students' hidden musical talents, he secretly transforms the class into a rock band and prepares them for a local Battle of the Bands competition. Along the way, the children gain confidence, creativity, and a sense of teamwork, while Dewey rediscovers his own passion and purpose.
